Nitro kit referenced: rc 8
Comments: can the buggy be made in to the rc 8t
It can, but the amount of parts and the specific parts required make it
a very expensive conversion. It is better to get a whole new kit. That way you
can enjoy to different vehicles.

Comments: it ran when i first got it but after i flipped it without a shell it
would not run did i get dirt in the engine? this is my first nitro what do i

You could have damaged several things on the truck. When you say that it
will not run, what exactly do you mean?

Comments: For some reason I keep tearing up the inside of the diff. gear in the
truck. This is my 4th or 5th this month. Do they make'em out of metal or is it
something I'm doing wrong when assembling it?
Is the engine stock? Have you added any other aftermarket components?
Make sure that the slipper clutch is set properly. The nut should be 2.5mm from
the end of the shaft.

Nitro kit referenced: monster gt8.0
Comments: have there been defects with the transmision housing specificlly where
the spur gear shaft goes in to the bevel gear set.mine seems to have had the lip
that holds the outer bearing in not there. leading to the bevel gears being
stripped out when the spur gear shaft slides out and makes clearance between the
gears. i only have a couple of tanks through it. has this been a problem?
I have not seen this. If you can send your transmission to the address
below this will help us greatly. If the case is indeed defective we can have
your transmission rebuilt.

With the carburetor in the open position, turn it all the way in and
then back it out 1 turn. That’s it.

Nitro kit referenced: MGT 3.0
Comments: i wanted to know how people can run flat out and not over heat there
motor i understand if you richen it but sac performance thank you
Well it starts out by proper break in. You cannot rush when breaking in
the engine. Then it just comes down to tuning of the engine. There really is no
secret.

Nitro kit referenced:SC8
Comments:thanks for the feed back. ok so tune with the body on. should i do a
couple of laps and pull the body off and check temp, if i do it that way won't
the engine cool to much for an accurate reading. the body allready comes with
appox a 1 1/2 hole in the windshield and side window, i don't have a overheating
problem i have not leaned it out enough for that to happen i'm still breaking it
in, i'm just trying to be on the safe side. thanks again
Yes, take a few laps, then pull the truck in, take off the body, and
take a temp reading.

Nitro kit referenced: gt2
Comments: I keep braking the front body mounts on my truck. Can you make this a
bit stronger. I go thru one set every time I'm run the truck. One flip and they
brake or crack just above the thick base of the body mount. I run it on a 1/8 th
scale track. The body mounts are good for the t-4 but the gt2 is heavier.
I will pass your suggestion along to our R&D department.
****************************************
Your name: Craig
Nitro kit referenced: mini mgt 3.0
Comments: When I accelerate, it seems the transmission is slipping and not
putting the power to the wheels. Sometimes my truck accelerates fine, but then
it goes back to "slipping." The truck revs and the clutch bell always spins. I
have to wait around 15 seconds for my truck to bump into gear before I can run
it. I checked the slipper, the clutch and rebult the front and rear gearboxes. I
am now taking apart the center gearbox and everything looks fine. What else
could be the problem?
Make sure that the forward/reverse lever is fully engaged one way or the
other. If that is good then the slipping is most likely coming from the one-way
bearing. Replace it and all your problems should be solved.

Your name: mike
Nitro kit referenced:sc8
Comments:i have a temp tuning question. I've read that the sc8 runs appox. 50
degrees hotter with the body on vs body off. Is this true, and if so how do you
recommend tuning the engine? Would you recommend tuning to appox. 200 degrees
with the body off and then put the body on? How do you guys tune the sc8
properly? Thanks for making such great products.
Any engine will run hotter with the body on. Tune the engine how you
will be running the vehicle. So tune it with the body on. If you want you can
cut a small 1 inch or so hole in the front windshield and cut a portion of the
side window out. This will allow some more cool air to reach the engine.

Comments: Set up sheets RC8.Hinge pin Bushing 2 up. I get that. But what is
2F/1R what is the one R? under hinge pin Bushing? Thanks
The R means rear. So on the upper hinge pin mount you have the front in
the shock tower and the rear in the top plate.

Comments: I've been getting mixed reactions. What is the proper way to mount the
rc antenna? I JUST finished a new body and didn't want to put a lot of holes in
it but i also want the transmitter/receiver connection to work properly. Can I
just have about 2-4 inches of tubing bent underneath or does it have to be long
and extending out the body? (I didn't cut the wire)
I would extend the antenna out as far as possible. If you choose to run
the antenna under the body the range that you will be able to control the car
will be greatly reduced. Probably fine for small tracks but larger tracks it
will need to be extended out of the body.

Comments: Since i got ny NTC# it has leaked fuel from the carburetor. I have
tightened everything. Now the needle? that the throttle linkage attaches to
slides in and out and the motor wont idle or take any idle adjustment. The car
was only purchased a couple of weeks ago.
Ok the idle screw that you loosened, the tip fits into a groove that is
on the carburetor barrel that slides in and out. Once you get the tip into the
groove tighten the screw until you have an opening of about 1mm. Then make sure
that your settings are set at Low 2 ½ and the high at 2 ¼ turns out.

Your name:Kelmo
Nitro kit referenced:MGT4.6SE
Comments:What does toe-in and out do???And what is posi-camber and neg do???
The camber adjustment allow you to keep the tires as flat as possible in
a turn to get more grip. Rear tor in helps the rear of the car generate more
grip in the corners and during acceleration in a straight line. Front toe in/out
affect how the car turns into a corner. Toe out makes the car turn into the
corner more aggressively than toe in.
Standard settings:
The front toe should be set at 0 degrees.
The rear toe should be set at -3 degrees per side (stock).
The camber set at -2 degrees all the way around. **************************************

Comments:I would like to know what is the normal temp for idle.Mine is doing
about 210 wit 30%fuel,and what is good operation temp through out a full run.And
what could i do to get more braking power. Is the stock form able to brake hard
of enough to lift the back tire???
The normal operating temperature of the engine is in the 220-240 range.
The temp should be checked after you run a couple of laps on a track that way
you get an accurate reading with a good mix of high speed runs and slow speed
corners.

Nitro kit referenced:MGT4.6SE
Comments:Is the stock form able to do wheelie???Is there any way i can get it to
do it???And what motor that can fit the MGT the u guys offer that could help it
pop wheelies
If all the conditions are right then yes it can do wheelies. The engine
needs to be tuned properly and most of all you need to be on a good surface that
offers lots of traction. It doesn't matter how much power you have if you have
no traction the truck will not wheelie but instead just spin the tires.

Comments: Can you possibly start the pull start engine with a bump starter? If
no, why?
You can, but since the flywheel is much thinner you can wear your
starter box wheel out quicker. That's really the only down side to using a
starter box with a pullstart engine.

Nitro kit referenced: RC8T RTR
Comments: Can you provide some detail as to why big bore plastic shocks are on
the RC8T RTR when the RC8RS come with metal ones, albeit non-threaded. It would
seem that a Truggy would put more strain on the shocks than a buggy, hence, its
alittle strange that the buggy gets the metal and the truggy gets the plastic.
The Big Bore shocks were not available at the time of the RC8 RTR
release. They will be available for the RC8T RTR. The RC8T is able to take full
advantage of the BB's due to there being much more leverage on the RC8T shocks
from the longer arms and larger wheels. The RC8 will benefit but not to the
extent of the RC8T will. As for cost they are roughly the same.

I have two rc8s one rc8t and none of them ever got dust in them. Should I use
grease or silicone on the seams but looks like its coming through the bearing

It should not be necessary but if you like, a small amount of grease
should do. Make sure all the screws to the diff case are snug and not loose.

Comments: I will be running my converted RC8 Electric buggy in a cold climate.
Beginning of this year it was common for guys to go from say 45W oil down to 30W
to get the handling they were expecting. My concern though is with the big bore
shocks as it appears some standard setups already use light oil weights.
Assuming I would still need to drop as much as stated above, what do you
recommend doing with big bores on setups that for normal temps call for really
light oil weights when using them in cold conditions?
Use a 5-10wt. difference than you would run in the regular shocks.

Comments:Why is it that this kits are so expensive and do not include full
upgrades, nor tires and muffler system.
I see all the specks, on the vehicles but I think consumers pay for the name not
the value of the vehicle. The shocks on this trucks cost more than my real cars
shocks. I think you could sell them for less because they are not fully
upgraded. I purchased the gs xut advance for 320 fully upgraded. some material
same as yours but with higher quality upgrades. the design is different. I could
see a bit of difference in handling but its like a Toyota Camry and a Nissan
Altma 4cyl. or 6 cyl. different manufactures different geometry in suspension
but around the same cost. See the point.
We appreciate your comments. However, we feel you are forgetting our
time and effort to design and test the vehicle from start to finish. Our racing
pedigree is built into these vehicles - our own racers depend on them to win
races. If they are paying only for the name, they are paying for a name backed
by 23 IFMAR World Championships. Our customers know they are buying a true race
vehicle when they by a car from Team Associated - Champions by Design.

Comments:What are the advantages of using digital steering and throttle servos
over standard coreless ball bearing servos? Thanks for your time
It is mainly the holding power of digital servos. Once the servo leaves
its neutral point it is at its maximum holding power. Non digital servos have to
be at their maximum throw in order to reach their full holding power.

everytime till this weekend my drill died and used the pulled start for the
first time today and once i pulled it, the string came right out. Is there a way
to fixed it? Is so, can you please tell me. thanks.
The pullstart will have to be taken off and the string re-wound around
the spool. This is complicated because you have to take the spool out, which
releases the spring. The spring is the hard part to try and rewind. It can be
done but requires a little time and patience.

Comments: why did you put a .28 in a buggy???!! it is meant to have a .21.
DUH!!!
The RC8 will accept just about any big block motor available. It is not
meant to have one specific engine. Racers who need to run a .21 to comply with
race rules can run a .21. The guys that just want to bash with a big torque
motor like a .28 can do this as well. Since the people that buy RTR’s mainly
bash around the neighborhood with them we included a .28 engine.

I cannot answer that because it is a modification we have not

It hard to say but usually some fuel and/or oil leaks out over time and
collects on the bottom of the header. Then from the heat it just hardens and
becomes the crusty bottom that you have described.

On the MGT .21 and 4.60 the 2-speed clutch adjustment screw should hit the nyloc

in, the truck dies. Then I try to restart, it idles and dies. put new glow plug
in and does same thing. Starts and dies, even after carb adjustments by hobby
guy, engine keeps doing same thing. I have raced nitro os engines and tuned
myself never having an issue...but this AE motor is getting me pretty ticked
off. Any answers?
I would reset the carb settings as follows…
1. High-end needle at 3 turns out
2. Low-end needle at 4 1/2, and be sure it’s set with the carb at full
open. (As if you were at full throttle)
3. Metering screw should be turn in until stops then out 1 full turn.
That will have it about flush with the back of the carb housing. (be
sure you do this with the carb at full open, like the low end needle)
4. Set the idle to 1/16 gap.
If you find that you are still having issues, it would be best to send
the truck with the transmitter to the address on the home page along
with a copy of your purchase receipt, a description of what is wrong,
and your return address and phone number - that way our technicians can
get a look at it. The truck is under warranty for 90 days from the date
of purchase against manufacturing defects. Once here, our technicians
can determine other problems that could be the cause, fix it, and return
it to you.

Comments: in an earlier answer you said to back out the shift adjustment screw
to 6 turns out i tried to do that but it was to far out and it locked it into
second gear i guess what im trying to ask is what it the factory setting?
The factory setting on the MGT 4.60 is 6 turns out.
Turn the adjustment screw in till you feel the spring compress then turn out 6
turns.
At about 5+ turns, you feel it hit the nyloc that keeps it from moving on its
own.
If you got it locked into second then you might not have turn
it in far enough. If after doing this and it still does not shift, you
will have to take the transmission apart and check the 2-speed clutch.
You might need to replace it from wear, or if you tightened too much on
the adjustment screw and messed up the spring.
The part number for the 2-speed clutch is 25015 and you will
have to set the adjustment before you install it.
Make sure that your slipper clutch is not slipping.
Clean out the inside of the clutch bell and clutch shoes of any excess
oil.
Set the two-speed adjustment to 6 turns out from fully tight.
You may be starting out in second gear.

Comments: Regardless how I adjust the clutch, It will not shift from 1st
to second. I put the clutch assy shaft on a spindle and found that the
actuator will engage at 1248rpm " with adjustment screw backed out all
the way. At what RPM should the Transmission shift from 1st to second
"Clutch hub assy"
Sorry, we do not have that information. The problem could be the
spring is deformed and you will need to replace the clutch #25015.
Make sure that your slipper clutch is not slipping.
Clean out the inside of the clutch bell and clutch shoes of any excess
oil.
Set the two-speed adjustment to 6 turns out from fully tight.
You may be starting out in second gear.

Comments: I am having trouble tuning it it is slow and sluggish out of
the line but once it gets ip to speed its a monster. It doesn't want to
lift the front wheels off the ground
I think your problem is all in the carb settings…what do you
have them set at now?

Comments:I have ordered the optional tuned pipe and header.I was
wondering if the original muffler mounting wire can be used or do i need
a new one, if so what is the part No for it?
You could make it work…but you want to purchase the side mount
wire #25430 $1.99 was for the 4.60 and I believe it will work on the 8.0
as well.

Comments: is there a complete rebuild kit for this engine
There is no kit. You’ll need these parts:
Piston/Sleeve #25359 retail cost $74.99
Con Rod #25357 retail cost $18.99
Wrist Pin #25358 retail cost $4.99
Cir Clip #25309 retail cost $2.99
Front and Rear Bearing #25325 retail cost $10.99
Here are the prices and part numbers for the all the parts that would
normally be done for a rebuild. We do also have a motor exchange
available. It does not matter how old or its condition (worn out, blown
up, broken) as long as all the parts are there to have a complete
engine.
You can send it to the address on the home page and get a new engine for
half the retail cost. Retail cost of the engine is $249.99, so you would
be able to purchase it for $124.99 plus shipping ($9.00 within the USA),
and if you live in California, you would have to pay tax.

There is no adapter for the Losi wheels - if indeed they do need one.

Comments: which mainfold, rear exhaust need to mount an engine tuned OS TZ 12
Speed 2?
Well, the kit is a non pullstart rear exhaust so it comes with a rear
exhaust manifold. You need to make sure that the engine is a rear exhaust
engine.

Comments: When mounted an engine O.S TZ 12 I had to do it on an optional bench,
the engine has remained a bit high for what he(she) suffocates with the original
pipe(pip) indexes 2350 and 2353 I need a pipe(pip) that has a lower angle to
solve the problem but not that piece is for what I need the references and if
the manufacturer is different
There is nothing wrong with the stock pipe. Several people here alone
have used that engine with the stock pipe with great success. The problem
appears to lie with the tuning of the engine.

Comments: What is the best way to tune my engine? It is still at the factory
setting, but I can tell it is fading away.
OK, from where you are now, lean the high speed needle out about 1/16 to
1/8 of a turn after each tank until the engine clears out on the top end. At
that point you should be pretty much set - maybe a slight bottom end adjustment,
but nothing like the top end.

Comments:
OK.... worlds are over! NOW it's time to get back to the 'real' world of racing
for the 'rest of us'! :)
BUT, seriously, I'm having a bit of a problem with the RC8T....
The truck is built 'by the book' with the exception of using 40 wt oil in the
shocks.... car was jumpy and nervous and unpredictable..... BUT, I loved the way
it accelerated!!!!!!!!! It just LAUNCHES out of turns!!!!!
I'm running the new Pro-Line LPR Crime Fighters (Crimes are a good tire for the
track - the RC8T is the ONLY truggy I have run the LPR tire on)
Dropped the shock oil to 35 wt front and rear.... and moved the rear shock
mounting to the outside lower mounting position......
and it is a bit better but still has quite a ways to go...
My first question is do these LPR tires tend to make a truggy react this way???
My understanding is that they were a bit more aggressive AND eliminated any
'roll over' of the tire.... Possibly NOT the cause but I'm running a new truggy
AND a different tire...
On the bench, dropping the truggy just feels DEAD - not much drop as in possibly
too much pack.... BUT, I'm already down to 35 wt oil from the recommended and
included 50 wt. Quite a deviation from the standard recommendation. I set shock
length (droop)at the recommended 113/125mm length.
The instructions reference silver springs BUT blacks are included in the kit -
and the blacks are the softest of the 3 rates that are offered....
Anyone else having this problem????? Got a solution to share????? I've always
been a believer that the kit instructions will get you to 95% but this truggy
seems a long way off....
Your truggy feels jumpy and nervous probably because of the light oil.
Put back in the 50wt. How much rebound are you running?

Comments: How to set carb
The bottom end should be set at 5 1/2 turns out and the top end at 3
turns out to start.
2. Yes we have a new digital servo that will work great in the truck for
steering. The part number is 29166, model is DS1313, and the specs are
173.6 oz of torque and 0.13 speed.
